This project by Michelle Throssel for Mala Mala uses natural stone to give the suites an authentic sense of place.  

Large pieces of natural slate have been expertly crafted and fitted together by the master stone masons of The Sandstone Story to give a sense of history. The resulting impression has the charm of an old stone farm floor but with a high end finish. This project has a distinctive out of Africa feel when combined with brass and copper fittings and fixtures in the bathroom. There could be no other material except natural stone which would have given this its sense of place. 

Natural slate is generally cheaper than ceramic tiles – it’s a material waiting for someone with a sense of vision.
